LinkedIn Recruiters: How do you deal with older candidates? Perhaps it’s me getting older, but it feels like there’s a discrimination against mature professionals.
Speaking from experience, I found it tough competing with younger candidates who had more growth potential than me. The sweet spot for being recruited is between 25-45, so what happens when you get past that?
As the years go on, it seems to me that wisdom has been traded for production and energy. Also, the average time someone keeps a job is 3 years, making it harder to stay employed the older you get.
If you’re a recruiter please do let me know how you deal with the age difference of your candidates.
And for older professionals, how do you compete in the job market?
