
Women may currently be under-represented in franchising, but times, as they say, are a changing – especially in the world of franchising.
Women currently own 37-percent of franchise locations, compared with the 24-percent they owned just 10 years ago, according to Franchise Business Review.
The 2018 Women in Business Trends report by Guidant Financial, says the Top 5 women-owned business categories include: health, beauty and fitness; general retail; business services; food and restaurants; and cleaning services.
The franchise model offers unique benefits to women, including financial security and flexibility for women who want to own their own business, as well as take care of their families.
Franchise Direct reports that it’s in women’s nature to own less expensive franchise systems, starting small in order to grow big.
Franchising has done all the work of developing and establishing a business system and ironing out all the mistakes. Plus, the franchisor provides the guidance, support and training.
Franchises also have a much higher rate of success than independent start-ups, which is the reason franchising is becoming such a popular option for women.
