Nearly 60% of working Americans say they would change career paths if they could do it all over again! But for me the problem lies in jobs, not careers. Let’s look at their definitions:
A career is “an individual’s journey through learning, work and other aspects of life”.
A job is defined as “a person’s role in society”.
Notice the difference? A career is a journey, and a job is a role.
A job is finite, a career is infinite.
Most people are unhappy as they are simply playing a role in their company. They are not on a journey to grow their expertise in areas they are truly passionate about.
A job is not sustainable whereas your career is for a lifetime.
More often than not the problem lies in your career path. You can’t make an unfulfilling job fulfilling.
But you can turn your career around with a change of circumstances. Doing so means getting a new job or transitioning to a new role.
And if you think you need your circumstances to change, then do it. It’s never too late to reinvent yourself.
